@marczhu7473 Nope, not in 1943. There was plenty of excitement in 1944, when the USSR launched the Vyborg–Petrozavodsk Offensive, which ended with a series of defensive victories for Finland. Soviet casualties were thrice those of Finland.

@marczhu7473 I'm inclined to believe that you've had no military training, since defence in depth appears to be a foreign concept to you. The Germans learned from bitter experience that that was the only way to stop a Soviet strategic offensive. Ironically, it's also how Ukraine won the Battle of Kyiv. The Russians must be slow learners. Anyhow, after stopping the Soviet offensive, the Finnish Army was far from beaten, and the fact wasn't lost on Stalin, who was suddenly agreeable to a negotiated peace. Finland had been open to a peaceful settlement from 1941 onwards, but the ongoing war between Germany and Russia didn't allow for one. The opportunity did present itself in 1944, when Germany was suitably weakened. Finland didn't hesitate to seize the opportunity, even though it meant that Germany would try to seize or hold on to strategic positions in Finland. They failed in all their objectives. Finland showed its mettle in fighting both the Soviets and the Germans.

@marczhu7473 1943 was a quiet year in the Continuation War. Why?

@marczhu7473 My shit military experience? Now you're just getting offensive. Goodbye China fanboy, you're blocked.

@jussim.konttinen4981 Did I suggest otherwise? I made the point that Indo-European is a language family. Genetics and language are two different things.

@samielalazar1800 Pray tell, what is factually wrong with what I wrote earlier? It is a fact that the Soviet Vyborg–Petrozavodsk Offensive was stopped with a series of Finnish defensive victories. Stalin nixed all plans for further attacks because he urgently needed troops to take Berlin. You're the one making up stories. Finland wasn't broke in the 90s and the child war refugees, with very few exceptions, returned from Sweden after the war. I should know, my mum was one.

@90skidcultist Indo-European is a language family, silly. Americans are English if it's only language that counts.

@jussim.konttinen4981 I can hear a Finnish accent if I listen to myself, sport.

@davidtuttle7556 Did I accuse you of being a Pommy?

@samielalazar1800 Uh, did you have a point? Hint: there's no paywall on Wikipedia.

@laeicawezlar4417 Duh, Finns have seen Russia as a threat since... ever. More recently, Russia has been ratcheting up tensions since 2008, when it saw fit to invade its neighbour, Georgia.
