Putin fanboys can't afford to be.

@strahaironscale571 Salvini is known for flip-flopping? Populists are.

@pulse4503 For starters, Salvini dabbled with left-wing politics -- rubbing shoulders with even the communists -- before reinventing himself as a right-wing populist. If that isn't turning one's coat, I don't know what is.

Among the far rights' fanbase in the West? How can that be a bad thing?

You're describing most parliamentary democracies. It's called coalition-building.

@captainwin6333 That's first-past-the-post voting for you. It favours big parties at the expense of small ones. That's why the UK sees no political renewal. The youngest British political party to form a government is the Labour Party, which finally succeeded in doing so a hundred years ago, after a 22-year slog in the opposition. The UK is no poster boy for democracy.

Are you new to politics? The Conte II Cabinet, which saw Salvini's Lega Nord make way for the Democratic Party, held a majority just like the Conte I Cabinet. Summa summarum, the Democratic Party was just as elected as the Lega Nord.

@pulse4503 Some more than others. Salvini is an extreme example, however.

@pulse4503 Thanks for confirming that Salvini is a populist. Opportunism is part and parcel of populism. Not that I think it matters, but I'm centre-right in my political outlook.

@pulse4503 Flip-flopping? Turncoat? Perhaps you should have your short-term memory tested.

@pulse4503 A Brit, me? You're like a bunny rabbit, jumping to conclusions. That's probably also how Salvini snared you. Do you think Salvini is a one-off? Populists do grow on trees and we have them in just about every country. However, we try not to elect them, much less give them top jobs, because it all ends in tears. Power doesn't suit wind vanes.
