@lanabarow6485 Treaties don't persist into all eternity. There are plenty of precedents where old treaties have been declared null and void, sometimes even unilaterally, with nary a reaction from the other parties concerned. The Paris Peace Treaties of 1947 are a case in point.

@lanabarow6485 You're referring to an apparent lack of political will and/or political courage on Austria's part with regard to joining NATO. I can't say with any certainty which one is to blame and to which degree, but it's still an entirely different matter than legal impediments supposedly preventing Austria from joining NATO. That you're trying to hide behind old treaties from a different age speaks volumes. Why don't you just try to argue that Austrians aren't quite ready to abandon neutrality, that the drastic change in Europe's security situation hasn't sunk in or that you need more time? At least those would be valid arguments. Cowardice isn't.

@lanabarow6485 Putin started a war of aggression in clear violation of the UN Charter. If he doesn't cease and desist, any peaceful diplomacy amounts to appeasement only. If the latter is your style, try offering Putin a piece of Austria to see if that satisfies his lust for Lebensraum.
