Yeah, about that. We in the EU don't like to give that much power to a single person, and certainly not one as capricious and egotistical as Trump.

@Kevin-fq3zh Whatever, Putin and Trump are birds of a feather. One is an autocrat and the other an autocrat wannabe. One heads a superpower and the other a superpower wannabe. Both are highly erratic. For your info, we haven't had Russian energy in any form or shape since March 2022. As I already noted in another thread about you, simple minds seek simple explanations.

@Kevin-fq3zh You can't see the trees for the forest. Whether or not to ban Russian LNG is up to individual EU members. We have; again, no Russian gas in any shape or form since March 2022. As it happens, France, Spain and Belgium account for nearly 90% of Russian LNG imports. 20% is transshipments to non-EU countries, which is about to be forbidden. There's been a peak in demand because these laggards in energy transition were filling their stores for winter. The winter has been extremely mild, which means there will be an equally sharp drop in demand.

She still needs to prove that she enjoys a popular mandate to warrant it. Democracy is such a hassle, isn't it? Given half the chance, I'm sure she'd abolish it.

@plumlogan The conversation Trump is creating throughout the world suggests that he should be declared master of the universe, right? The verb you're looking for is *affect.

@plumlogan Be that as it may, the EU Commission doesn't have the authority to annul any national elections. Your conspiracy-ridden mind sees the EU everywhere, as if it were omnipotent.

Thrice -- try to keep up with the news. It's the so-called 10 JEF countries that are now policing the Baltic Sea to discourage repeat occurrences. JEF is not subject to EU or NATO decision-making. For your info, the EU is not the be-all and and end-all of European co-operation, and doesn't need to be either. I do understand that you need to keep things simple for yourself.

@Kevin-fq3zh What a flaccid response. The puerile emoji crowns it.

@Kevin-fq3zh The EU isn't Europe's security setup. Even a child knows that. Putin is nowhere near winning in Ukraine. And the EU isn't fighting in Ukraine, dum-dum.

@ Do you ever read what you write? What else did you mean by "europe’s [sic] cumbersome & [sic] security set up [sic]" if not the EU? The Eurovision Song Contest? As to Russia cutting undersea cables in the Baltic Sea, we've seized the ship involved and we're detaining the crew. What else do you propose? Should we have gunned them down, Murica-style? Go Abu Ghraib on them? I don't know if it's a matter of poor reading comprehension or short-term memory loss, but you should reread my initial reply.
