Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "Turkey arrest Russian over Incirlik terror plot" video.
Did you love it, too, when Putin called Turkey a backstabber and an accomplice of terrorists? Allies? Strange bedfellows is more like it.

+KuroNeko :3 You're not good at arguing your case. The Americans have brought in far, far more military kit to Turkey than the Russians. Fact is, Russia and Turkey "enjoy" a historical enmity that spans the better part of a millennium. Heck, even my family rose to prominence as a result of one of the many wars fought between Russia and Turkey, because an ancestor of mine was particularly adept at shooting Turks.

+KuroNeko :3 The US has supplied arms to Turkey on very favourable terms, and so have other NATO members. It can be argued that Turkey has been a NATO charity case from the onset. Do you think the Russkies give freebies? And selling the S400 to Turkey is a clever investment. If it comes to blows between Turkey and Russia -- once again -- your S400 might inexplicably malfunction. There are numerous cases of perfectly serviceable Buks having to be taken out of service because of legitimate concerns about Russian hacking. We've established that your long-term memory is shot, but your short-term memory also leaves something to be desired. How do you not realise that this new-found love between Russia and Turkey was preceded by a bitter propaganda war against Turkey, waged publicly by the likes of Putin, Medvedev and Lavrov. But perhaps more importantly, the Russian populace joined in eagerly, acting on their age-old anti-Turkish instincts. Everything says ''opportunism' about it (you even allude to it yourself). Sadly, opportunists often change their mind.

+KuroNeko :3 You mentioned that Turkey had to pay for US kit, as if there was a critical distinction there with Russian kit. You may want to go over your arguments before posting them. It's no secret that the US has provided grants and subsidised loans to Turkey in order to finance the sale of their arms. There are credible estimates that from 1984 to 1999 alone, 77% of the value of US arms exports to Turkey -- amounting to $10 billion in total -- was footed by the American taxpayer. Sure, the Russians promise the S400 isn't rigged to miss Russian warplanes, but how can you be sure? Like I said, many defence forces phased out the Buk because of such concerns. You're naive if you think the Russians will share the ins and outs of their latest AA missile technology with a NATO member. Putin wasn't born yesterday -- the ex-KGB officer knows full well that Erdogan is a bit of a weathervane. Your nationalistic myopia prevents you from distinguishing between NATO, US, EU and the countries involved. NATO was sharply divided over the Iraq War, which achieved nothing but a further destabilisation of the Middle East. The EU was divided over Turkish membership -- until Erdogan went berserk and effectively got Turkey blacklisted. But I'd say you have one common trait with the Russians. You believe everything is a "Western" conspiracy against you.

+KuroNeko :3 Judging from your sudden silence, you're the one lacking knowledge on the subject. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

+KuroNeko :3 Read again. You boasted that Turkey has not enjoyed favourable terms in arms purchases from the US. I noted that between 1984 and 1999, Turkey got what amounted to a 77% subsidy, $8 billion in absolute terms. That's pretty favourable -- charitable even.
1
+KuroNeko :3 Nope, you didn't address Turkey verifiably being a charity case.
