And Neville Chamberlain famously waved a peace deal upon his return from Munich in 1938. A fat lot of good that did. Say, have you given any thought to Putler withdrawing his Orcs from Ukraine, after which peace is instantly restored? Or did that scenario escape your attention altogether?

@JamesSmith-je7vf Remind me, what was the relevant treaty that forbade NATO expansion? When and by whom was it signed? It was painfully clear that the Ukrainians themselves grew fed up with Yanukovych's shenanigans, which caused him to flee to Russia, to his puppet master. Also, it was Russia that wiped its feet on the Minsk Agreements first. Russia's self-proclaimed sphere of interest is a throwback to Soviet times. Russia may be a superpower wannabe, but such things have no meaning in this day and age.

@JamesSmith-je7vf Germany has never broken that particular treaty. There are still no NATO bases on formerly East German soil. Also, verbal assurances from one of the member's ambassadors don't constitute a treaty that binds NATO. Similarly, Macron doesn't represent "the West" -- whatever you think that is. You're clutching at straws.
