It does, too. It drives the point home that Trump can't rely on his populist charms any longer. As the president, he has to lead Hillary's supporters, too, who, as we all know, outnumber his supporters. Trump needs to come to terms with the painful truth that he'll go into the White House as the most divisive president since James Buchanan, who famously failed to avert the Civil War.

anonym aenb Regardless of their number or their leanings, they do represent the unease felt by 52.6% of the electorate on account of Trump becoming president. Anti-democratic, you said?

Rise4justice There's zero chance Trump will unite the nation. That said, Hillary would've fared just as badly in that respect. These elections were about bad and worse, and worse won.

anonym aenb You're assuming non-voters are Trump supporters. Whatever gave you that idea? But you're right, polarisation will endure no matter what. Unless the duopoly is broken.

anonym aenb I hear many thought it was a done deal that Hillary would win and didn't bother voting. And that another great many disliked both candidates and didn't see any point in voting. If there's any truth to these assertions, we can safely assume the non-voters are more anti- than pro-Trump, just like the voters. An even safer assumption is that the non-voters are split along the same lines as the voters, in which case the outcome is still the same. Trump has his work cut out winning hearts and minds. I'm curious, how exactly is my world view narrow? Please be specific.

dekcarc I, too, did the math and arrived at 52.9% voting for someone else than Trump. So Trump's predicament is growing worse still.

dekcarc Point?
1
dekcarc You do realise that the bigger populist just won the presidency?
1
dekcarc You have no case.

dekcarc One word. Weird.

+David Rook So Trump sends in a few agent provocateurs and then the lot can be locked up. Police state, here we come!

anonym aenb So what's wrong with my thinking? If not Trump, then his admirers with the Ku Klux Klan can see to it that peaceful protesters get convicted of crimes they did not commit. Anyhoo, collective punishment is a no-no in a democracy.

anonym aenb Of course I'm speculating. By way of examples, I'm pointing out the inherent flaws in Resolution's ploy to hold non-violent protesters responsible for the actions of violent ones. You might want to work on your reading comp.
