The Vietnamese boat people had many young men of military age among them, only they were last on the list for resettlement to the West. Since we're doing anecdotes: I went to uni with a male Vietnamese boat refugee of my age, a recent arrival. He specifically mentioned he didn't want to serve in the Vietnamese military. Myself, I had to take a year off to do my compulsory military service, followed by a one-year deployment to the Middle East. As a refugee, my Vietnamese friend didn't have to do either. Yet I had no inclination whatsoever to call him a bleeping coward on my return. I think you're aggrandising yourself at the expense of the Syrian refugees. Be like Bob.
