+AwoidElite I'm surmising that you're inexpertly trying to strike a comparison with mobile telephony, in which case it would be "2G and 5G". The G stands for generation, not gigahertz. Speaking of mobile telephony, it's amusing to recount how Murica trailed behind in adopting mobile telephony. Iranians were happily texting while Muricans were still coming to term with the fact that SMS wasn't just for voicemail notifications.

Believe me, Iran's Islamic revolutionaries would be extremely happy with Trump in office. To ensure their political survival, they need the USA to stay the Great Satan. I'm sure Trump would more than oblige.

@LucienCallidus What no? Actually, WiFi is 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You're stating the obvious about the correlations between frequency, data rate and coverage. Why would I dispute those?

@LucienCallidus Not true. 2.4 GHz is firmly established. Besides, the most common 2G frequency was 900MHz, followed by 1800MHz. As a 25-year mobile industry insider, I know my frequencies.
