@norbertbarsony4280 Firstly, defence is first and foremost a national issue. The EU doesn't prevent its members from up-arming. That's purely a domestic choice. Secondly, the EU leaders are elected. The European Parliament and the European Council are directly elected, and together these two elect the European Commission. You really need to educate yourself before you blurt out nonsense. And don't upvote your own comments. It's seedy.

@norbertbarsony4280 No, you appear to have nothing to say -- nothing of substance anyway. In your naivety, you must think the EU is some kind of presidential system like the USA. The EU is akin to a parliamentary system, in which the executive relies on a parliamentary majority at all times. Just like a cabinet in a parliamentary democracy, the European Parliament can send the Commission packing at any time. Moreover, the Council retains executive powers in key areas, which leaves the Commission with fewer powers than a cabinet in a parliamentary democracy. So, for laughs, tell us about parliamentary democracies in the EU where the electorate elects the head of government? I'm waiting with bated breath.

@Thorsted67 Newsflash. Russia made an abortive push for Kyiv in early 2022. It withdrew with its tail firmly tucked between the legs, when it transpired that the Ukrainians, despite the FSB's assurances to the contrary, were having none of it and put up a fierce resistance. Does it pay to be an apologist for Putin or are you just volunteering?
