The Houthis (read: Iran) would absolutely love that. It would turn Israel's war on Gaza into a larger war. Besides, Israel only has to threaten with sending warships down the Red Sea, and the US jumps into action. With good reason, too. The Red Sea is a critical shipping lane. Major exporters like China aren't amused either. In case you didn't notice, China and Russia obligingly stepped aside when the US and UK effectively paved the way for the attacks against the Houthis at the UN Security Council.

@RobertPaulsen-gk8qc Not to my knowledge. I think I just explained why. It would lead to an escalation -- and a very desirable one in the eyes of Israel's enemies. I remember well how during the Gulf War, Saddam Hussein started launching Scuds at Israel, in the hope of drawing Israel into the conflict, which could've caused a collapse of the US-led coalition. The US asked Israel not to retaliate. Israel obliged. An extensive Scud hunt by coalition aircraft and special forces ensued.
