  5.  @ItalianIrishguy  Populists are only good for garnering support among the disaffected, but it's just a matter of time before the disaffected grow disaffected with the populists, too. Ironically, the process is only accelerated when the populists make it into government and are actually expected to deliver on their promises. But perhaps the supreme irony is that the populists' support base draws heavily on those who previously voted for left-wing parties, or in previous times, would. On the other hand, that's not surprising: left-wing parties have always toyed with populism.
