  1.  @Geckotr  Internationally recognised? I doubt that very much. Especially neighbouring countries have age-old names for one another, which may differ wildly from what the countries in question call themselves. Turkey may insist on being called Türkiye at the UN or in the Olympics, but by which name we refer toTurkey is our business.

  4. Hold your horses. These so-called geographical indications (GIs) come under the WTO, not the EU. Also, GIs have nothing to do with market size. Contrary to what you think, might isn't right.

  5. Germany, hostile to Turkey? This is about Germany having fallen in love with döner kebab to the extent that they now consider it part and parcel of their culture. The same goes for chicken vindaloo, which the Brits consider a staple dish. The Turks (Türkiyers?) should be proud, not defensive.
