Even Russian officials warn of food shortages -- meat and dairy products -- and this was before the Su-24 wandered into Turkish airspace and got knocked down. I guess we can now add fruits and vegetables to the list, too, as Turkey exports $1bn worth of them to Russia annually. If Turkey decides to hit back with counter-sanctions -- as it probably will -- then the lifeline of the Russian economy, the oil & gas industry, will be hit. Turkey exports essential machinery to even a greater value than the fresh produce.
