 @JD-Media The idea of England joining the EU will be met with as much enthusiasm as Turkey's bid. That's just a political fact.

@JD-Media I'm not referring to human rights abuses or authoritarianism. I'm referring to the self-serving motives of both the UK and Turkey with regard to the EU. It was painfully apparent before the referendum, when Cameron tried to extract more concessions from the EU. While this was going on, reform-minded, smaller members of the EU tried to form a bloc with the UK, but they quickly realised that Cameron couldn't care less about their aspirations. It was all about securing more exclusive privileges for the UK at the expense of the others. Privileges aren't exclusive is they apply to all and sundry. Good riddance, I say.
