Putin's Eurasian Economic Union isn't exactly the success story that you make it out to be. The last time a country (supposedly) wanted to join it, a popular uprising followed. Euromaidan, we call it. Rather than take it in its stride, an intensely jealous Russia had to resort to military violence against Ukraine, making matters only worse for itself.
