Military history isn't your forte. The whole of Europe lived in fear of Napoleon's Grande Armée. In the 19th century, the USA was keen to copy everything French in matters military, and opportunities to pursue military studies in France were much coveted among the higher echelons of the US military. In WW1, French instructors whipped the US doughboys into to shape so they could stand their ground against the Germans. Finally, the French led the Allies to victory in WW1.

@RUTHLESSambition5 So, in conclusion, you wanted to go to Afghanistan and replace the Taliban with the Taliban? In Iraq, you wanted to fail in finding WMDs, which happened to be the justification for the invasion (after failing to pin 911 on Saddam)? Vietnam War, that one you wanted to lose as well?

I remember how the US Marines, supposed to be cream of the crop, retreated from Lebanon after the fatal Beirut barracks bombings. The French, badly bloodied as well, stuck around. But you'd rather spout clichés.

@TheTotalizer Which flag did you fly when you retreated from Lebanon, never to return?

@TheTotalizer So, you flew a white flag when you retreated from Lebanon. Good that we have that established. The French were soon back, but you, never. Did I mention that already?

In WW1, the French taught the US doughboys to fight the Germans. The US military could've picked from a number of Allies to teach them the ropes. Somehow, they arrived at the French.

You're sadly mistaken. France won most of the conflicts it was in involved in after the Napoleon era. There were major clashes, too, like France conquering Algeria from the Ottomans and the Crimean War, which saw Russia beaten. Most strikingly, the French led the Allies to victory in WW1. Since you have access to YouTube, you should mosey over to Wikipedia and open the article "List of wars involving France". It will open your (shut) eyes.

So, the biggest colonizer of them all -- Russia -- should rush to the aid of those supposedly neo-colonized by France? I smell a strong stench of hypocrisy.
