  1. Are you new to the Tour de France? More often than not, the Tour makes a foray into a foreign country. I once witnessed the contestants riding by my house in Belgium.

Even when it stays within French borders, the Tour isn't entirely continuous. Riders take flights now and then to get from one place to another. It's no big deal if the flight takes a bit longer.
