  18.  @momcilojabucilo9320  I think you'll find that the Americans, in the absence of heroic battles and the associated glory, grew bored and left Afghanistan to its own devices -- very poor devices, I might add. My English teacher, an Englishman with an in-bred disdain for "the Yanks", always spoke of "the attention span of an American". In the case of Afghanistan, 20 years amounts to a pretty good attention span.
