  5.  @dogpoofairy2517  Told whom exactly? We for instance have had contigency plans in place for ages, with multifuel power plants, electricity from nuclear and renewable energy and no domestic gas. We've had neither Russian oil nor gas from 2022 onwards and we're none the worse for wear.

  8.  @dogpoofairy2517  For your info, the likes of Germany had their "Wandel durch Handel" policy or whatever the local equivalent was called. Germany knowingly bought oil and gas from Russia, trusting that Putin understood that it was a symbiotic relationship -- a win-win, in other words. No-one thought Putin would be so daft as to start an energy war with its best customers, which could only end in defeat for gas-station-masquerading-as-a-country Russia. Germany had hoped for the best, but failed to prepare for the worst. We did, as a matter of routine.
