@ragnarironspear1791 You'll lose it once more when the Irish take back what's theirs. I served in Lebanon and Kosovo, but as far as I can tell, it had nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

Too bad for you the two are practically synonymous. Oh wait, there's Belarus, the last genuine dictatorship in Europe. Unlike all the others, they're not affiliated with the EU nor have they indicated an intention to join.

@ragnarironspear1791 And what should the Irish protect themselves from? From basking in former glory? Oh no, that's you Brits. You've never contributed to our freedom.

@ragnarironspear1791 OK, neo-Nazi.

@imalloutofbubblegum3274 A slight variation on Billy Joel's Goodnight Saigon. We will all go down together.

That's a wonky analogy. The Balts have prospered in the EU. They were keen to join, too. The same can't be said about the Soviet Union, which they loathed to "join", although Churchill pretended otherwise. Don't expect post-Brexit love from the Balts.

@dalegriffin6755 You want to bring up racist themes as well?

@sumvs5992 Try to reform the British Commonwealth first. The members of the present Commonwealth mock you openly.

@councilestateproduct You're conveniently neglecting to add that the IMF's predictions are subject to the UK managing an orderly exit form the EU. With Boris Johnson having painted the UK into a corner by setting unrealistic timelines for a trade deal, that's now far from certain. It's interesting that you raise Merkel's concerns about the UK going on the cheap by ditching regulations and lowering taxes in an effort to stay competitive. That alone will make the trade negotiations so much harder. It goes without saying that the EU will shield itself from competition that its members deem unfair. Singapore-on-the-Thames is just not realistic. In your shoes I wouldn't be so concerned about Frankfurt taking over from London as the financial capital of the world. It's New York that has reportedly taken over already. That's symptomatic -- the Yanks are only too pleased to fleece you while feigning friendship. They certainly have a mean streak when it comes it their former colonial master.

@Appy Ammer It's all up to Scots to stage a new referendum -- the EU has no say in it. The same goes for the Northern Irish, the Welsh and the Gibraltarians. It'll be up to the English to switch off the light.

@Appy Ammer It is up to the Scots -- I don't see how Westminster can stop the Scots without going Medieval on them

@Appy Ammer The chronological order of events eludes you.

Anna Hunt Yes, we don't particularly care for GB anti-democracy.
