The pot calling the kettle black. The US is no stranger to neo-colonial practices. In fact, you've honed your skill to perfection in Latin America. Teach yourself a lesson.

Self-help would be in order. Time for Africa to pull itself up by its bootstraps.

I would rather describe it as coup fog. Over the years, Africa has had 214 coup d'états, of which 106 were "successful" -- meaning that the coup plotters gained power rather than went to prison -- or worse. It's a matter of weighing legitimacy against pragmatism. Timing is tricky, too.

For your info, the "colonised" are inviting in new masters to make the colonial experience more realistic. Or did you think Wagner's services are complimentary?

@normiedeathsquad40 Googling will also tell you that France is fine with abolishing the CFA franc and replacing it with the much talked about Eco. Us eurozone partners of France aren't all that keen on the CFA euro tie-up either. It's another liability in a very tangled web we've woven.

It was a tough call for France. Is a military junta a legit government? It certainly has no popular mandate. Statistics suggest that more than half of the coups in Africa fail.

Not really. France has long since spread its eggs across multiple baskets. Nigerien uranium accounts only for 20% of French imports, and Niger's share will decline no matter what, since the only operational French mine there is getting depleted. The French are spoilt for choice where to mine uranium. They're at it already in Kazakhstan and Canada. If Niger turns into a hostile business environment, they can reopen mines in Gabon or Namibia, or open a new one in Uzbekistan. Of course, France has the choice of buying from non-French suppliers as well. Uranium is sometimes sold below production value, so at times that's the best option.
