  2. You're excused. I was once in a sports bar in Chiang Mai, Thailand, when Berlusconi came on TV. A somewhat inebriated Italian spontaneously apologised to everyone present for his country bringing forth Berlusconi. We tried to assure him that our heads of state were pretty crappy, too, but I'm afraid we didn't convince anyone, ourselves included. He sure took the cake.
