@Derreck Jones Yet two wrongs don't make a right. But the big difference is that Britain has a colony inside the EU. The Gibraltarians are an odd bunch. The indigenous ones all speak Spanish, even among themselves, if my experiences are anything to go by. I also take your claim that they can't stand the Spanish with a grain of salt, since they're mixing with them on a day basis, inside and outside of Gibraltar. Politically, they're not enchanted with Madrid, but the same applies to many of Spain's autonomous communities. Need I mention Catalonia?

@Derreck Jones You're still talking Madrid. Andalusians and Gibraltarians get along fine. I also know from first-hand experience how the British expats living on the Costa del Sol have mixed feelings about the Gibraltarians and their over-the-top nationalism. Gibraltar's Chief Minister, whose ancestry is partly Spanish, has no qualms about investing in Spanish real estate. Who would? In Gibraltar, cabin fever otherwise soon sets in.
