@matthewbaynham6286 From the looks of it, the holes weren't made by bullets, but rather, by irregular fragments. A bullet makes a nice round hole on entry and these were jagged and rectangular. Also, the range of anti-aircraft guns is very limited. If indeed the weapon system responsible was a Pantsir, as has been speculated, its missile detonated in close proximity to the aircraft and sprayed it with small projectiles like a shotgun. It seems clear to me that the bumbling operators thought they were dealing with a drone, because had they been intent on downing the airliner, they would've used a missile with an continuous-rod warhead -- which becomes a big cookiecutter -- that would taken a huge chunk out of the plane.
