  2. gamevalor Sure, the EU has challenges ahead, but the question is still whether or not the UK will be better off outside than inside. Maybe you shouldn't be comparing the UK to the EU average, but to the more affluent members -- and they're in no hurry to leave. It's not entirely unthinkable that Scotland and Northern Ireland remain in the EU while England and Wales leave. A precedent already exists in Denmark and Greenland. No doubt May's cabinet will opt to stay in the single market, which means the English and the Welsh are relegated to observer status, while the others actually enjoy decision-making powers in the EU. Oh, and you'll pay, of course.
