Did you think the land masses of Finland and Russia just collided recently? Finland has been preparing for an Russian incursion since 1944.

@JohnTavastian That's a myth. The M16 with its 5.56 cartridge soldiered through the Vietnam War with distinction. Plenty of trees there as well. Likewise, many Far Eastern countries swear by it despite having dense rainforests.

@JohnTavastian I know from personal experience that Far Eastern rainforests have far denser vegetation than Finland's carefully manicured forests. It's because of financial considerations that Finland still sticks with the obsolescent RK62 and the 7.62x39 cartridge. Besides, the Border Guard and the Special Jaegers have already adopted the G36 and SCAR respectively, both in 5.56. As a reservist shooter, I shoot both a Saiga AK in 7.62x39 and a Bushmaster AR in 5.56. It was only after I got comfortable with the latter that I realised what a clunker an AK pattern rifle is. Lastly, I've been sergeant, lieutenant and staff in the FDF.
