  1. You're generalising. Estonian is an Finno-Ugric language, as is Hungarian. They're clearly distinct from Slavic or Baltic languages.

  2. Yan, it's ludicrous to suggest that Russia somehow nurtured nationhood in the countries you mentioned. Rather, Russia held them back. Imperial Russia actively tried to substitute local languages with Russian. It failed, but now you're trying to turn failure into accomplishment.
