China must be very displeased with this, especially after claiming that their involvement in the first incident was merely accidental. I mean, Russia has nothing to lose, but China still has some self-respect left.

Russia has stooped to causing misschief. Like an ill-behaved child, it can't get positive attention, so it settles for negative attention.

How is it good for Russia? Now, Russia's shadow fleet faces even stricter sanctions. Oil exports are a lifeline for Russia, and it struggled to peddle its oil even before. Another nail in Putinist Russia's coffin, for sure.

Yeah, and since we're whatabouting freely, I would like to know who had Jimmy Hoffa killed.

Yeah, as always, Russia is the victim here. Luckily, Russia loves nothing better than to wallow in victimhood.

@serbianwarcrimes Finland is not cutting off Russia from the Baltic Sea. That's just fanboy bluster. The Houthis are a terrorist organisation. We're not going to emulate them, but rather, employ legal means to curtail Russian aggression. Despite appearances, the Russians are not competely stupid. When the cost to them outweighs the perceived benefit, they stop. Sadly, not before.

If so, Russia got exactly what it ordered. The NATO lake is becoming a busy NATO lake.

@tripwire8457 Should we also investigate Putin for Assad's crimes against humanity? They're both part of the same (bad) crowd, aren't they? Guilt by association.

@serbianwarcrimes It remains to be seen if or how the perpetrators can be prosecuted. When the (alleged) crime was committed, Eagle S came under the jurisdiction of the Cook Islands, a microstate halfway around the world. Maybe they have a NZ barrister specialising in maritime law on retainer, but that could be it. Flags of convenience...

@serbianwarcrimes Outside of territorial waters, even if that's EEZ, the jurisdiction of the flag state applies, in this case the Cook Islands. The Finnish authorities could board the ship because it obeyed their instructions and entered Finnish territorial waters, where Finnish jurisdiction does apply. You easily check this. I suggest you do.
