Russia is incapable of replacing its losses, both in terms of manpower and equipment. Technology gap? Remind me whose tank turrets are sent flying, and with whose weapons?

  2. You're a bit of a drama queen, aren't you? Opinion polls suggest that Finland is getting a centre-right coalition government next, much like the one Sweden just got, in lieu of the current centre-left one. Nothing suggests that the make-up of the upcoming government will make an iota of difference in terms of NATO membership. If anything, the government will have even less reservations as to hosting NATO bases and, if Russia continues with its nuclear brinkmanship, nuclear weapons.

  3.  @dsm5d723  I don't know what your dirty bomb conspiracy theory has to do with the price of tea in China, so I'll ignore it. Finland hasn't agreed to neutrality or been neutral for ages. Finland was militarily unaligned, just like Sweden. Foreign policy was another matter altogether. As EU members, both Finland and Sweden have been sanctioning Russia for Putin's Crimean caper since 2014. Why would you lie about the poll results, which indicated very strong support for NATO membership -- 79% prior to submitting the application? Referendums aren't up to the EU. They're a domestic affair.

Again, referendums in the EU are purely a domestic matter. Members decide for themselves if and how to hold them. For a long time, Finland insisted on a 'NATO option', which was to be exercised if the situation called for it. After Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, a popular consensus formed that the situation indeed called for it. The series of polls reflect that development rather well. By now, it should be clear that I'm not doing conspiracy theories, so I'm giving your Nordstream conspiracy theory a miss, too. The 1992 Russo-Finnish treaty declared the earlier 1948 Soviet-Finnish treaty, which did impose neutrality on Finland, null and void. The new treaty, which remains in force, makes no mention of neutrality one way or the other. Moreover, until early this year, Russia maintained that NATO membership is a decision that Finland and Finland alone should make. I really don't care to discuss an entirely fictional military alliance between Russia and Mexico. Still, if that's what Mexico really wants, the USA will just have to grin and bear it.
