  1.  @pf844  It's not just the Tu-95 Bear that poses a threat to Eire. The Russians have the Tu-160 Blackjack as well. Ireland would truly need a high-performance interceptor to counter those, because if push comes to shove, an attacking Tu-160 would likely make a high-speed dash before launching a stand-off missile. Best left to the RAF's Typhoons, in other words.
