@No-timeforimbeciles You've got it backwards. The ignominy of the Soviet-Afghan War contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union. I have no dog in this fight (we pulled our troops from Afghanistan when the UN mandate expired in 2014), but I don't see how NATO's failure to decisively beat the Taliban (containing them was easy enough) somehow reflects positively on Russia, which fared no better against the Mujahedeen. Maybe you should reserve your argument for contexts that don't involve Russia. I might even join in.

@MetaView7 Free vote and Russia? Don't make me laugh. Russia is an authoritarian state that doesn't allow political dissent. Dissenters get defenestrated or have their underpants treated with Novichok.

@MetaView7 I can't say I follow any US news outlets. Crimea had a mock referendum. Its validity was overwhelmingly rejected by the UN's GA. Something about not being free and fair. Where did you check? The Democracy Index puts the US in 25th place, with "flawed democracy" as its classification. Russia's is "authoritarian" and its place is 124th. The Americans need to up their game, but Russia is nothing short of an abject failure democracy-wise. I have nothing with Biden. Why do you ask?
