  1. So any penalties imposed on Boeing would have to be paid by the US taxpayer in one form or another. It's not like the USA has many alternatives besides Boeing.

  3. True dat. In the late eighties, I did an internship with KLM, the oldest operating airline in the world, which at the time had an all-Boeing fleet, apart from some Fokkers for regional work. Now it's gradually phasing out its Boeings in favour of Airbuses.
