  14. Having lived in all three -- the PRC, Hong Kong and Taiwan -- it's a complete mystery to me how the Chicoms ever believed they could persuade Taiwan to rejoin China voluntarily. The Taiwanese would be barking mad!

Admittedly, Russia has gained African friends in Mali and Eritrea, but that's the extent of African support for Russia. As to Mali throwing out the French, they left on their own accord, but they expect to be back soon. In case you don't know it, the life expectancy of Malian military juntas is very short. I suppose Prigozhin had the presence of mind to ask for payment upfront.
