  2.  @webdev217  Haven't you seen heart-shaped Mylar party balloons? You can glue any shape together, but for party balloons it's too labour-intensive to go octagonal.

  3.  @donnewton7858  Any lighter-than-air vehicle is subject to the whims of air currents, and very much so at very high altitudes. Propellers and the like make it possible to steer a bit, but it's akin to rafting, where you paddle to avoid the biggest rocks. Going upstream -- against the wind -- is out of the question.
