@bertjohnson3285 My Bill of Rights? What do you take me for, a Yank? I studied political science, but I fail to see the uniqueness of it. As far as constitutions go, yours is pretty basic by today's standards. Other countries, which don't depend as much on case law, have far more elaborate constitutions. Come on, give one example of a US right that eludes the rest of us. Don't be shy.

@bertjohnson3285 With your boast of having a government "by the people", I guess you're alluding to what is commonly known as passive suffrage. Erm, that's run-of-the-mill stuff as far as democracies go. Incidentally, we gained full suffrage before you. So far, you've explained nothing, but keep trying.

Jenn Massey Freedom of speech, check. The right to *bear arms, check. Sorry... Incidentally, I've got a semi-auto rifle in my gun cabinet that's illegal to import to the US. I found out when I asked about custom parts in a Texan gun shop. The owner was quick to make a bid, thinking I had it stateside. Not being religious myself, I don't know what to do with your God-given rights. It's like you're saying an invisible sky friend dropped them on you. As to protecting our rights, I've been a member of a well-regulated militia for my whole adult life, just like all my able-bodied male compatriots. It looks like we're living your 2nd Amendment, not just providing lip service to it.
