@gweejiahan9336 Taiwan is justified in mistrusting Chinese pharmaceutical companies. They're all subjected to state control and we all know how China habitually threatens Taiwan with war and violates Taiwanese airspace as a matter of course.

Chinese law requires even publicly-traded corporations to form party committees and have CCP members on their board of directors or in their executive team. We also know how the likes of Jack Ma go missing when they don't toe the party line. What was so wise about Fosun paying extra for a distribution agreement that covers Taiwan, a market they can't touch? Financially, it makes no sense whatsoever, so it must be political. You apparently know zilch about commercial agreements. There is no international law that forced BioNTech to lump Taiwan together with China. The poor sods just didn't realise their mistake when signing. Fosun's political commissar must've broken out the champagne in anticipation of a promotion to the higher echelons of the CCP.

@taichiwinchester1102 In other words, Fosun bamboozled BioNTech. Fosun knew full well that the Taiwanese market was off-limits to them, yet they tricked BioNTech into awarding them exclusivity for it. There's no sense in agreeing on profit-splitting if there are no sales.

@catbertevil750 What exactly is a lie? Try to be specific. To be clear, I have not claimed that there's no commercial agreement between Fosun and BioNTech -- I did write it's a dodgy one, something that BioNTech realise only too well by now. Moreover, Foxconn, TSMC and YongLin bypassed the ban by using a Swiss pharmaceutical company as a go-between. This impromptu arrangement is hardly ideal, and now the go-between in question is switching to Moderna's vaccine, who haven't signed any dodgy distributor agreements. In other words, Fosun and BioNTech are losing out because of the former's political games. I have to say it, you wumaos stink at arguing your case. Are you working off some list of talking points prepared by the CCP? I'm asking because your counter-arguments never seem to find their mark.

@whi1e You've got it all backwards. No point in going around in circles. Just answer this: Why did Fosun enter into an exclusive agreement with BioNTech regarding distribution in Taiwan, a market that they knew is off-bounds to them? It's like YouTube procuring content distribution rights for China, a market they're barred from. Explain that and we can continue the discussion.

BioNTech, unlike Chinese corporations, are not government-controlled. In the free world, companies have the freedom to sign distribution agreements unsupervised, even ill-considered ones suggested to them by the CCP, which they naively accept, like in this case.

@ying6610 Uh, sportwear isn't subject to a Taiwanese import ban -- pharmaceuticals imported from China are. Also, Nike, Adidas and Apple know their markets, so they're not making rookie mistakes like BioNTech (with Fosun's blessing, that is). So, again, why did Fosun eagerly go along with a distribution agreement that included a market that's closed off to them? Do you honestly think Fosun was unaware of the problem, or should I say, political opportunity? You can tell me if answering this question gets you into trouble with CCP censors. If so, we'll leave it at that.

You still didn't dare to answer my simple question: why did Fosun want exclusive rights for a market it didn't have access to? It's entirely irrelevant whether a Taiwanese company invested or did not invest in BioNTech. If you and I could only buy products from companies we've invested in, we'd be in heaps of trouble. @whi1e Sigh. Like I wrote earlier, we're going around in circles. Taiwan forbids the import of Chinese vaccines. The law predates the coronavirus pandemic and hence, the BioNTech vaccine. I feel like I'm playing chess with a pigeon here.

@MH-pz8wf You're so off. There's no monetary benefit for Fosun in gaining distributor rights for Taiwan, which is off-limits to them. It's like YouTube would pay content owners for the rights to stream their content in China, while YouTube remains banned in China. It's clear that political motives -- not monetary ones -- are at play here.
