@notimportantperson6382 You can't blame Russia for not trying. In 1939, it tried its utmost to capture Finland, but failed with abhorrent losses. The intent was there, but so was the incompetence. And now history repeats itself in Ukraine. Putin's grandiose plans are thwarted by Russia's military incompetence. Can't a dictator get a break?

@Hkiz The USA famously failed to coerce its NATO partners to get embroiled in the Iraq War, so no, they don't call the shots.
