@dragilxcom4176 Military training grows stale over time. Russia doesn't believe in refreshers, meaning Russia's older reservists have forgotten most of what little training they did receive. What's really imprinted in their minds is the hazing -- how to take it and how to dish it out. It won't impress the Ukrainians, however.

@nobodyisbest I take it you're hinting that Russian border guards are easily bribed. Maybe so, but borders are being shuttered from the other side as well. Finland is the latest EU country to restrict Russians from entering. Applications for political asylum that cite mobilisation or conscription as the reason won't be honoured. If you're an FSB officer who's being roped in to torture Ukrainians, then you stand a chance.

It goes hand in hand. If you starve, you freeze. Our bodies need to burn calories to maintain body temperature. Russian soldiers suffered terribly in the Winter War, because the Finns specifically targeted Russian field kitchens. The Red Army brass executed top officers for losing them. I hope the Ukrainians have read up on winter warfare.

Numbers. Russia is reintroducing human wave attacks. When this, too, inevitably fails, Russia will try Mao's devious stratagem: a million Russians surrender on Day X, and if Zelenskyy doesn't accept Putin's peace terms, on Day X+1 another million Russians surrender. This goes on and on till Ukraine is bursting with Russian POWs and has no choice but to sue for peace.
