  1. Actually, the UK has been raking in EU research funding, more so than it would if population size was the criterion. And deservedly so, because higher education is one of the UK's fortes. Or should I say it was one of the fortes before Brexit kicked in. No, Britain will be hard-pressed to make up for the shortfall. It's a vicious circle -- loss of international stature, fewer students, closure of universities, etc.
