The Germans formally promised not to expand NATO to former East Germany. They've held on to that promise. Georgia and Ukraine haven't entered NATO, not in 2008, nor now. Language issue?

With Russian nuclear weapons now in Kaliningrad and Belarus, both of which border Poland, it's only fair that Poland joins NATO's nuclear sharing club. Putin must understand that he'll reap what he sows.

@bonnie7898 Truth be told, the ISAF mission in Afghanistan was a NATO op, be it one sanctioned by the UN and enthusiastically supported by Russia and China, among others.

@bonnie7898 ISAF most definitely was a NATO op. NATO doesn't make a secret of it. I did a tour with KFOR in Kosovo,, another UN-sanctioned NATO op. So I should know. This information is literally at your finger tips. Next time, take the time and spare yourself some embarrassment.

@RyzenShanks You haven't understood that the Western nuclear powers favour sub-launched nukes. There most definitely will be a retaliatory strike against Russia, even if all NATO countries lie in ashes. Do your homework.

The Baltic states harbour no illusions about Russia. That's why they're in NATO, much to the chagrin of Russia. By taking on the Baltic states -- or Poland for that matter -- Russia takes on the whole of NATO. Russia can't throw its weight about, especially now with the Baltic Sea turning into a NATO lake. Your bear has been rendered a stuffed toy.

@quito787 The OP is right about the B61 nuclear bomb. It can be configured on the fly to become either a tactical or a strategic weapon, with its yield varying from 0.3 to 400 kt.
