  1. Russia is too dependent on German money for its oil and gas. Or for that matter, on oil and gas in general. Russia desperately needs to flog its oil and gas or its people will go hungry.

  2. You're mighty naive in expecting that Russia will co-operate in making an open and shut case against itself. How these things work is that the aggrieved nation gathers sufficiently convincing evidence and then proceeds to take retaliatory steps against the wrongdoer. If the tables were turned, Russia would behave exactly in the same manner.
