@serglet8236 Nonsense. The tsars, during whose reign the Russian Empire was formed, were insistent on Russia being recognised as a colonial power right alongside the other colonial powers of the time. Not only that, Russia employed some of the most gruesome methods to subdue the local populations -- even genocide. In the colonial age, there was no "West" as we know it now. Most of what are now considered Western countries didn't engage in colonialism. In fact, some were subjected to it themselves.

@ritwik5774 The only difference between "Western" colonisation and Russian colonisation was that where the few Western colonial powers went overseas, Russia went overland. Russian citizenship rights were an oxymoron. During the heyday of Russia's empire-building, serfdom was still a thing.
