Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "Joining NATO is a dream for Ukraine. But how realistic is it? | DW News" video.
It's not really a matter of position. NATO stands or falls with its Article 5, which says an attack against one member is considered as an attack against all members. Enrolling Ukraine, which is under attack by Russia, would mean all the other members are mandated to come to Ukraine's aid militarily. It would be tantamount to NATO going to war against Russia.

@romeob.8369 And you fancy yourself a sage of some sort? Let me guess, you also wear a bicorne hat and keep your hand in your waistcoat.

@allencameron3419 He makes a good point. You make none whatsoever. I hear Finland's accession to NATO did much to restore investor confidence and boosted tourism, too.

@allencameron3419 I feel differently and I already put in two tours, in Lebanon and Kosovo. I guess my second tour made up for your cowardice.

@allencameron3419 Thank you for asking. Kosovo was tough, trying to keep Serbian civilians from getting killed at the hands of vengeful Kosovars, sometimes with deadly force. Also, when I first arrived in Beirut, they were still flying out bodies of US Marines by the planeload. That was the first and last time I saw US forces in that theatre. Where did you serve? How did you feel when you were shot at and shelled?

@allencameron3419 I haven't told you my war stories, and neither do I feel compelled to do so. I share them with fellow veterans, not with cowards. Have you ever been called a Little Englander, by the way? If not, I'll fix it for you: Little Englander.

Medvedev has utterly degraded himself. It's even harder to believe now that he was once the president of the Russian Federation than when he actually was, during the silly switcheroo with an unelectable Putin. Putin has made an ersatz Vladimir Zhirinovsky out of poor Medvedev, a lightning rod of sorts for the craziest ultranationalists among the Russians. True to style, Medvedev has threatened all and sundry with nuclear Armageddon. Summa summarum, I wouldn't pay any serious attention to what the man says -- he's gone completely off the deep end.
