Ironically, Erdogan wanted the S-400 because the US Patriot is programmed not to shoot at Western military aircraft. And why is that important? In 2016, Turkish F-16s were to be used against Erdogan in the event that he would take to the air. The Patriot would've been useless in protecting him, but not so the S-400. There's your so-called "superiority" -- an autocrat wanted a system that could shoot down his own aircraft. Perhaps Putin should invest in the Patriot, because after his ill-fated Ukraine adventure, a coup d'état in Russia has grown more likely.
