@Clec Torres It's not colonisation; it's decolonisation. And besides, NI voted to stay in the EU.

@Clec Torres No, why, I'm suggesting the Irish get back what's theirs.

@geppiemockingbird1489 The Netherlands are the promised land of silly surnames. We had a young English teacher called Aarsman. Inspired by Ali G, we called him Battyboy.

@davidjuke2386 Those speakers represent a minority among their fellow MEPs. Fact. I'm curious why Brexiteers always wish doom and damnation upon the EU, even now, when the political and economic divorce is only days away. Misery loves company?

@tomnicholson2115 What are you blabbering on about? It's a simple matter of Northern Ireland organising a referendum about reunification. If someone's not happy with the result, they can vote again, this time with their feet. No one's being forced out.

@SnowyNI Give it time. The last-minute FTA is only a reprieve.

Remoaning implies being British, since the rest of us aren't leaving. In international politics, Nigel is a non-entity ever since he stopped being an MEP. The supreme irony is that he'll never make an MP. And it's not for the lack of trying.

@deputyVH Still, you're only too keen to cosy up to a real superstate, the USA. Why don't you direct your animosity toward them for a change? Or you could invest your time more wisely in preventing the UK from breaking apart, which is a clear and present danger, a far graver one than the "imminent" break-up of the EU.

@davidjuke2386 I'm sorry, I thought you were capable of an intelligent response. The poor grammar and spelling should've tipped me off. Can I point out that the countries of which I hold a passport of best the UK in the Democracy Index? The EU is strictly controlled by its members' national governments and collectively by the European Parliament. Speaking of the latter, I always found it a hoot that Farage was a shoe-in for the European Parliament, but the House of Commons has remained and always will remain out of his reach. Something amiss with your "democratic rule" there.

@davidjuke2386 That would be *peabrain. What kind of education did you get -- if at all?

The real question is, will you start fighting each other again as the UK falls apart.
1
@Clec Torres As a net contributor, Germany isn't affected, since member contributions aren't increased to make up the difference. The EU's net beneficiaries, on the other hand, will be affected, since they can't dip quite as deeply into the Cohesion Fund as before. The Cohesion Fund is an investment into Europe's future. I'm sure they'll remind us whom to reward and whom not to as the investment bears fruit.

Don't have a cow, man.

@adha2913 The UK is paying his pension, albeit indirectly.

Alex Evans I'm not Irish, silly. We have always paid our way, unlike you English.
