@Lexrezende You'll find that Putin is pretty flexible in terms of ideology. Besides, Russia's system of crony capitalism is transforming the country into a Soviet-style command economy again, as businesses are failing and the state needs to take over. That, however, doesn't change the grim economic realities that Russia is facing. Also, for the record, USSR imploded pretty much on its own accord. Joining an arms race during a period of chronic economic weakness didn't help, but that was also a choice the Soviets made. There was a moral bankruptcy as well. Communism had failed.
