Not only that, Putin practically killed off his anti-NATO competitor, the CSTO, by flouting its Article 4, the collective defence clause, and leaving Armenia high and dry. Putin is a gift that keeps on giving.

@MWENDA-vv5im Be that as it may, Russia can lower another coffin, that of the CSTO, in the same grave.

@youareliedtobythemedia Over the years, Azerbaijan has made numerous incursions into Armenia proper. That should've triggered CSTO's Article 4, the collective defence clause. In 2013, a Russian commander claimed that the conditions would also be met if Azerbaijan made a move on Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russians have very quietly changed their mind, it seems.

@youareliedtobythemedia As recently as 2022, Azerbaijan did cross the border into Armenia proper. That's when Armenia triggered Article 4 of the CSTO, but nothing happened. Thus, the CSTO's collective defence is a dead letter.

Putin would sooo much like to invade Armenia.

@lovyrituraj In case you haven't noticed, Russia is fuming at Armenia. The latter effectively declared Russia's head of state a war criminal, despite Russia telling Armenia not to. Putin now has to come up with a suitable punishment. Of course, he'd like to invade, but his invasions haven't worked out so well lately.

@BakerMan024 If so, Putin dealt a death blow to CSTO in the process. In the mean time, NATO will keep expanding as more and more ex-Soviet bloc countries vie for membership. I'm afraid the next dictator to emerge in Russia won't remember Putin kindly, just like Putin blames Lenin for losing Russia its empire.

@СергейМонин-д7с Armenia "lost" Nagorno-Karabakh, like the British Empire "lost" India.
