A portion of the missiles always gets through. Russia likes to congratulate itself with having the best air defence systems in the world, but nonetheless we've seen the Israelis and Turks push home their attacks in Syria and Libya, even destroying the air defence systems in the process.

@StrongRespect The Americans are no strangers to braggadocio, but they're no match for Russia in that department. What's so humiliating for Russia is that its state-of-the-art Pantsirs get taken out by both Israel and Turkey. It's very difficult to provide good air defence coverage if you don't know the targets, but when the Pantsirs are the targets, they should be able to at least defend themselves. Not so in Syria and Libya. First Russia loses its most lucrative customers for oil and gas, and now its "advanced" weapons no longer find buyers. Russia is already an economic basket case, but worse is still to come.

@hemendraravi4787 It's hard to decipher someone as capricious as Erdogan, but my take is that he convinced himself that the US was bluffing about the F-35. That turned out not to be the case. Anyhoo, Turkey is already planning to replace the S-400 with an indigenous air defence system. They reportedly found the performance of the S-400 against low-flying targets unsatisfactory.

China's UNSC membership is legit (in a legal sense -- I'm not talking about morals), but the UN Charter still speaks of the Soviet Union. Never has the UN decided that the Soviet Union's permanent membership should go to Russia. Interestingly, Ukraine is another contender, since it was a UN member in its own right before the Soviet Union collapsed. We should open that can of worms, if only for entertainment value.

@suportbghelp4938 Sure, there's that and the fact that Russian weapons systems have underperformed in Ukraine. In Syria and Libya, the Russians could explain that the Syrian and Libyan operators were at fault, but after Ukraine, that excuse no longer works either.

I have an idea. You could appeal to your leaders that they make an effort to satisfy Putin's lust for Lebensraum. Give some of your own territory to Putin. I have a hunch Putin would welcome the offer, since Ukraine is proving too hard a nut to crack.

@angelovalentini2115 An Italian appeaser? Maybe that's your way, but not that of the Ukrainians, who know how to fight.

Serbians are brown now? Bots are not blessed with a brain.

@МаксВолк-р3д No it isn't, not according to the UN. Or please enlighten me about the UN resolution to that effect.

@suportbghelp4938 Which fact went unchecked by me? You're stating an opinion as if it were a fact.

@chidoluehenzc8154 Remained? You don't seem sure yourself. Have you even been to Russia?

@yellowtunes2756 When did I claim that Turkey sent its S-400 (c400?) to Ukraine? Leave off the silly straw man attacks. It's interesting that you "just found out" that the US sanctioned Turkey for procuring the S-400. It's widely known that Turkey missed out on the F-35 because of it. And try to get the name right, fanboy.

@Unknown-te6dz Let me try to spell it out for you, because you don't seem to be blessed with the ability to put two and two together. The OP questioned if the air defence systems pledged by the West had been delivered or taken into use. They are operational, but it remains practically impossible to provide 100% air defence coverage in a country as large as Ukraine, where every electrical transformer is a target.

Air defence missiles are designed to self-destruct if they miss their target. The debris won't cause the damage that we're seeing. You're merely trying to placate your guilty conscience.
