  2.  @tomhenry897 Nonsense. In the EU, corruption manifests itself on a national rather than on a supranational EU level. The usual suspects fail to tackle corruption nationally, and the EU, which by design lacks jurisdiction on a national level, is more or less powerless to call a halt to it. The EU is not supposed to be a nursery for naughty toddlers.

  3.  @OlaFosheimGrstad  Personally, I don't care how much oversight Romania is subjected to, but I do have a problem with the EU assuming more and more federal powers. Individual EU members can be nanny states if that's their choice, but we don't need a nanny union.

  7. So you're saying the EU saved Turkey from itself by not letting it in. Turkey, which is woefully corrupt by EU standards, surely would have corrupted itself further had it received cohesion funding from the EU. Got ya.
